In 2007, after serving nine years as instructors at Portland Bible College, Eugene and Joy moved to southern Spain where they have established a base of ministry reaching into Spain, Europe and North Africa. Their vision is to strengthen and establish local churches and disciple leaders in Spain, a gateway nation. They have rooted themselves in a Spanish church in the city of Málaga and are involved in leadership training there. In addition, they currently pastor a new church plant in their suburb town of Alhaurín de la Torre called Centro Cristiano de Alhaurín. Being located in southern Spain enables them to be strategically involved in team efforts dedicated to strengthening workers in the challenging field of North Africa. Their daughter Annika now lives with them while working and staying involved in church activities. Their son Daniel is finishing a music degree studying at St. Olaf College in Norhtfield, MN.
