English as a Second Language

Have
you ever been in a place where you couldn’t understand what was going
on? Or you couldn’t communicate what you were thinking? In the Portland
Metro area there are an increasing number of people from countries and
cultures that are not like what they have been introduced to here in
Portland. The English as a Second Language (ESL) team at CBC has sought
to not just help people from different cultures, who speak different
languages learn English… they have worked to bridge cultures and
developing some very real and meaningful relationships.
The ESL
team at CBC is made up of trained tutors who have a passion to help the
ever growing population of immigrants who have come to Portland, live
here and are working to adapt to their new home and culture. The goal
is simple: to provide friendship, advocacy and English fluency.

We
use both one-on-one settings as well as classroom settings with tutor
teams to help our people to grasp English. These settings provide a
wonderful place for people to make new friends and to connect with
other people from their ethnic group through CBC’s ethnic ministries.
Programs
are offered at both the Rocky Butte & 217 Campuses. If you’re
